Rock n Roll as a style originated in 1950's America and expanded outwards. Since then, during the last 65 years or more, it has evolved into a myriad of sub genres. Rock n Roll has its roots in a variety of styles such as Blues, Country Swing, Rhythm and Blues, Swing and so on. The term was popularised by DJ, Alan Freed who championed the new music which was aimed principally at youth.
